Graphics tablets

Graphics tablets let you draw, paint, retouch photos and annotate documents with a pen, with the precision of a pencil on paper. The category includes pen tablets without a screen, pen displays with a touch screen such as the Wacom Cintiq and Intuos series, and signature pads for capturing digital signatures in professional settings.

When choosing, think about the use: for illustration and retouching, the active area, or the screen size on models with a display, the resolution in lpi and the pen pressure sensitivity levels all count; for signatures, compact formats of around 5 inches with dedicated software are enough. Check the connection interface, for example USB, compatibility with your computer and graphics software, and whether the pen is cordless. Models with a built-in display let you draw directly on the screen. The range includes Wacom and ViewSonic products.
