Computer components

The computer components category brings together everything needed to build, upgrade or repair a desktop PC: processors, motherboards, graphics cards, RAM, power supplies, cases and cooling systems, along with expansion cards and system accessories. It suits gamers and home builders putting together a new machine, people upgrading an older one, and professionals looking after workstations and office PCs.

Compatibility is the best place to start. The processor socket must match the motherboard, which in turn decides the memory type, such as DDR5, and the case size you can use, from mini-ITX to full ATX. Size the power supply to the draw of your graphics card, and give some thought to cooling, either air or liquid, to keep temperatures and noise under control. Brands on offer include ASUS, Gigabyte, Intel, AMD and MSI.
