Hobs

Hobs are the built-in cooking surface of the kitchen: gas models with 4 or 5 burners and induction models with a glass top, in widths from 60 to 75 cm and in stainless steel or black finishes. They are designed for anyone refitting a kitchen or replacing an existing hob.

To choose, first decide on the type of power: gas lets you use any pan, while induction is fast, easy to clean and controls the heat precisely, but requires compatible pans and a suitable electrical supply. Check the cut-out dimensions, the number of cooking zones, the controls and the safety features. Brands available include Siemens, Bosch, Candy, Smeg, Electrolux and Hisense.
