Washing machines

The Washing machines category includes front-loading and top-loading washing machines, with capacities from 6 to 11 kg, slim models for tight spaces and washer-dryers. They suit single people, couples and families with different laundry needs, from everyday loads to bigger family washes.

To choose, start from the capacity in kg, then consider the spin speed (from 1,000 to 1,400 rpm) and the energy class. Inverter motors are quieter and keep running costs down, while steam can help reduce creasing. Check the depth, for example 50 cm on slim models, and whether quick programmes are included. Brands available include Beko, Indesit, Hotpoint, Whirlpool, Bosch and Candy.
